A Moment at The Beverly

This month’s Moment at The Beverly joins forces with Notice Recordings to celebrate the cassette release of the Bennett/Houston/Lonberg-Holm Trio release “Pinkie No”.

Also appearing will be the Anne F. Jaques, Craig Pedersen duo.

The trio of Bennett/Houston/Lonberg-Holm first came together at Elastic Arts, in Chicago, 2016, which has been documented on the Notice Recordings tape “Pinkie No”.

Fred Lonberg-Holm is a Kingston, NY-based cellist. Played and studied music in a variety of situations from the Juilliard School to the gutter. A former student of Anthony Braxton, Morton Feldman, Bunita Marcus and Pauline Oliveros. Past and current collaborators include Joe McPhee, Dave Rempis, Michael Bisio, Frode Gjerstad, Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Glenn Kotche, Nicole Mitchell, Torsten Müller, Jim O’Rourke, The Boxhead Ensemble, Michaels Zerang, Keefe Jackson, and Jeff Parker.

Ben Bennett is a Philadelphia-based percussionist and performance artist. Past and current collaborators include Michael Foster, Jack Wright, Jacob Wick, and Sandy Ewen.

Zoots Houston is a Kingston, NY-based multi-instrumental improviser of various sorts. He works primarily with misuse and perversion of objects and systems. Virtuosity, volatility, futility, and capability are thought of. Past projects and collaborators include The Green Pasture Happiness, Nick Hoffman, Brent Gutzeit, and Graham Stephenson.

Provisional Mailorder is a duo of Anne-F Jacques (amplified rotating objects of various speeds) and Craig Pedersen (amplified trumpet, sound controlled motors, feedback) from Montreal. For a time it was also an impractical mail-order cassette subscription project. Working with self-made instruments and close amplification, their work takes care with sound and timbre. Taking time, it is rarely hurried.
